Scattered records are the problem.

A photo in one place. A PDF in another. A purchase you remember only when someone asks. Fiscal is being built so the evidence and the details live with the record.

Capture what you already have

You can photograph a receipt, or add evidence you have already saved. The current product build accepts JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF, WebP and PDF files as evidence. A public release will keep that list unless a later decision changes it.

The point is not a perfect archive on day one. It is a record you can return to, with the file still attached and the gaps still obvious.

Review before it counts

Where detail extraction is supported, Fiscal is being built to read what it can and then wait for you. You correct the merchant, the amount, the date or any other detail that matters, and you confirm the record yourself.

If something is missing, the item stays understandable as unfinished. It is not quietly treated as complete.

Find it again by place and year

Records are grouped by workspace and by financial year. For the Australian year that Fiscal uses, 1 July starts the new year and 30 June ends it. Everyday spending and work expenses are the approachable starting point. Other contexts can hold evidence too, without turning Fiscal into bookkeeping software for every entity.

A category suggestion, where one is offered, is a way to organise. It is not a ruling on tax treatment.

See what a report is for

Does uploading a file finish the job?

No. The file is the evidence. You still review the details and confirm the record before it belongs in a report.

Can I add a PDF as well as a photo?

The current build accepts photographs and PDF evidence, including JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF and WebP. That is the list in the product source today.
